Another Malware Called DressCode Found In Google Playstore

I keep wondering how a malware sneaked into Google playstore (a well known safe Download portal). I just don't know how it made its way into Google playstore.

This said malware is called DressCode. It has infected over 400 applications on other apps store and over 40 applications on Google playstore.

It creates a so called botnet. The attackers are able to use infected devices to route traffic through them. In the case of DressCode, Check Point says, the hackers only used it to generate false ad clicks and traffic, thus collecting ad revenue. However, a botnet can be used for much more serious attacks, such as gaining access to company servers and files.

Even though the malware is used to route traffic for invalid clicks of ad revenue, you still have the responsibility of making sure such kind of malware doesn’t run in the background of your device, otherwise it will affect your device performance.

That's exactly why i have been publishing articles of some security patch updates released by smartphone makers. You have to make sure you install the latest Android security patch updates if its available for your device and also be careful of apps you install and also stores you download them from.

Does this mean that we are not going be using tweakware again or what?

    1. No, far from that. They will renew their domain in no time. Kindly bear with them.
